i decided to make a big review post of all the lush products that i've gotten. so here ya go. these photos were in previous posts and all new comments are denoted by "→→→"'s. ~Lin-chan ^.~
how to split bath bombs with seams (i.e. round ones): take a knife (a crappy or old one), chisel, etc. and place the tip somewhere along the seam. use a hammer or mallet and tap until it splits. you might want to put something underneath to catch the debris/dust and to help stabilize it..it will roll.
key:
yes! -- i love it!
yes -- extremely likely to repurchase
probably -- more likely than "maybe" to repurchase
maybe -- i might get it again
nah -- i liked it, but there's other scents/things with the same purpose/effect that i like more
meh -- maybe it did it's job or the scent was ok, but i didn't like it all that much
no -- i didn't feel like the product was worth rebuying, but worth trying
no! -- don't waste your time or money!
first lush purchase...for myself. my first actual purchase was gifted. [1/2/12]
- Sweetie Pie shower jelly -- this is really neat, it looks like weird, purple glittery jello that you rip off small pieces and lather into a sponge.
→→→ trial and error showed that this works better in the shower vs. bath. not completely sure why, but you use less that way. smells like the comforter. cut into small cubes, crush 2-3 cubes in a wet shower pouf.
repurchase? probably - The Comforter bubble bar -- i hear that it's best to cut these into fours and use one piece at a time. this is actually 1.5 bubble bars, i gave away two pieces. it smells nice when it's a solid piece, but when you crumble it into the tub, the scent dwindles a bit. turns bath water pink, white bubbles.
→→→ use half a bar to get lots of bubbles!
repurchase? definitely! - You Snap the Whip body butter -- first and foremost: LOL at it's name, the girl at Macy's couldn't keep a straight face saying the name when my aunt asked. this stuff has the strangest instructions but leaves the skin feeling awesome after using it. you're not supposed to get it soaking wet; apply it to wet skin using dry hands and store it in a dry, cool/room-temperature place..so it doesn't melt, or something. it gives an almost melting-chocolate-in-your-hand feel when holding it. after using, your skin feels nice and moisturized, this gently exfoliates. (tin sold separately)
→→→ i probably should have cut this in half before using or something. it melts when wet. fast. smells like the comforter. wipe off well, it doesn't rinse off completely and makes your skin look dark.
repurchase? probably
- Twilight bath bomb -- it doesn't smell like straight lavender to me, like it's been sweetened..if that makes sense...
→→→ has multiple layers, if you want to split it. use whole.
repurchase? yes - Mrs. Whippy bath bomb -- can't describe the scent, but definitely not strawberries and cream like the site says!
→→→ this thing fell apart when i tried to split it. the pink underside is like a normal bath bomb, but the white part crumbles off like crazy. the pink part dissolves like other bath bombs do and the white part seems to melt like the mmm, slowly. wasn't super impressed by it. don't split it, use the whole thing.
repurchase? meh - Butterball bath bomb -- i love vanilla scented things, yum!
→→→ i liked this scent a lot, it was before i knew how to split the bath bombs, so i broke it into a mess of unproportional pieces... i'll eventually try it halved and whole to see what i think seems right.
repurchase? probably - You've Been Mangoed bath melt -- smells like lemons, not mangoes... very melty when held.
→→→ cut in half or use whole; ⅓ wasn't quite right. makes the water silky.
repurchase? yes - Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar (tin sold separately) -- faint scent of strawberries, slightly floral.
→→→ great for those who are sensitive to strong scents.
repurchase? nah - Avobath bath bomb
→→→ smells like fruit loops!
repurchase? maybe - Sex Bomb bath bomb -- i love the way this smells. it's jasmine and my whole apartment smelled like this for a while after using it. >w< i'm not a huge fan of the "blooming flower" though, it feels like weird gelatin when using (it's stiff when dry).
repurchase? yes! - Creamy Candy bubble bar -- smells similar to the comforter, maybe sweeter..like you can eat it! and yes, that is an actual piece of candy, like cake décor, in it
→→→ use whole. when halved, it's too small to make enough bubbles.
repurchase? yes! - Dragon's Egg bath bomb -- citrus-y, smells kind of like fruit loops, but not as strongly as avobath does!
→→→ this has 3 layers, be careful when splitting. better if used whole. turns the water a sheer metallic gold. outer white part melts slowly, insides melt quickly.
repurchase? yes! - MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment bath melt -- looks like a flat-topped cupcake, smells like sweet chamomile, is not melty feeling..texture is similar to bubble bars
→→→ probably better if split in half instead of thirds like i did, but i liked it a lot, melts slowly. if used with a bath bar, it hides well amongst the "clouds"
repurchase? yes - Happy Blooming bath melt -- faint cherry scent, same consistency as you've been mangoed, but does not feel melty when held.
→→→ the smell when you use it isn't all that much, i kinda think it smells plasticy...but that's just me. it does melt slowly, just drop it in the bath. split into thirds.
repurchase? meh
- Sweetheart soap
→→→ i liked this scent, i think i should have cut it into larger pieces...i think i cut it into like 6 and each one lasted like 2-3 showers...booo.
repurchase? yes - Magic Mushroom bubble bar
→→→ undecided about this one. use whole.
repurchase? maybe - Leap Frog bath bomb
→→→ i smell the sandalwood and maybe hint of jasmine, but i really can't fully describe this one.. the lips feel moisturizing, like a bath melt. use whole.
repurchase? yes - Love Potion massage bar
→→→ smells good >w< and teh paul actually likes it. the red part turns fabric pinkish-red, pre-treated it with a stain stick and it came out in the wash.
repurchase? if teh paul likes it, it's a winner. - Ocean Salt cleanser (sample)
→→→ maybe i'm a masochist or something, but i like having kinda harsh face/body scrubs. i think that, for me, using it more than 2x a week might be too drying and my face will hate me. i know this is a given because it's an exfoliant, but be careful when using it around open wounds, scabs, mosquito bites, etc. it burns.
repurchase? well..i didn't buy it in the first place.. ^^; but yes!! - The Comforter bubble bar
→→→ see above - Pop in the Bath bubble bar
→→→ use whole, has a nice and not overpowering floral-y, herbal-y scent.
repurchase? yes - Pink bath bomb
→→→ filled with heart-shaped sprinkles *that do not dissolve in the bath* and topped with cake décor candy pieces. smells similar to butterball with a few other ingredients. use whole.
repurchase? maybe - Buffy body butter
→→→ i cut this into fourths, but i probably should have just cut it in half... does not melt as fast as you snap the whip--probably because it has a ton of exfoliating particles in it. the oils in it make your skin have a weird feel but i think the exfoliation outweighs it.
repurchase? yes!! - Floating Island bath melt
→→→ i think that i like mmm more, just because it smells sweeter. i do like the scent of vanilla/sandalwood but sweet stuff always takes precedence. ^^; each half seemed to sink more than float..... mmm definitely floated the whole time. ok so i tried it whole and it floated, buuuut..this one smelled like play-doh. i don't think i actually smelled this one before buying it, but it totally smelled like play-doh before and while i was using it--totally weird.
repurchase? nah
- Green bubbleroon
→→→ smells like sweetened grass or herbs with a light citrus scent.
repurchase? yes - Rose Jam bubbleroon
→→→ ok; so i know it's called rose jam, but when it's solid, it didn't really smell that rosy to me. once broken apart in the bath, rose oil. the bath was nice, but the scent's not my favorite. use whole.
repurchase? no - Magic Mushroom bubble bar
→→→ see above - Dorothy bubble bar -- i have it turned the wrong way up there, it's supposed to be a rainbow.
→→→ use whole; i can't describe this one all that well, but it's kind of a fresh, light floral scent. definitely does not turn the water "vibrant blue" like the site claims; it came out closer to a green/brown, like when you mix too many colors together.
repurchase? yes - Stepping stone (foot pumice)
→→→ break it into pieces!!! this melts/fizzes in water FAST, and i'm clumsy >.<
repurchase? yes - Herbalism cleanser
→→→ ok, sorry. i cannot get myself into this product. i've tried it over and over, but i think that i prefer cleansers that are already liquefied. i think it's really a matter of consistency that i don't like--consistency being the texture, not it's effectiveness. as far as it's effectiveness, sorry but you'll have to try it on your own, i couldn't bring myself to use this everyday to notice a difference.
repurchase? no - Dirty toothy tabs -- these are toothpaste tablets, chew them and then brush.
→→→ i think that this is ok. it gives your mouth a clean feeling, but not so much the fresh breath feeling.. not a strong flavor.
repurchase? no! - Atomic toothy tabs
→→→ feels similar to the dirty tabs. has a cinnamon taste that lingers for a short while after use.
repurchase? no - Sweetheart soap -- got this last time and had to have more!!
→→→ see above - Sexy Peel soap -- smells citrusy, like oranges and maybe a few other things..
→→→ definitely smells like lemongrass with orange. love the scent! has dried orange peel chunks, which is nice for light exfoliation.
repurchase? maybe - Fizzbanger bath bomb
→→→ be careful when splitting, it is layered and has a surprise inside. better if used whole. has little particles that are similar to pop rocks, pops and crackles in the bath. scent-wise: i was thinking apple pie when i bought it, but it's not quite. maybe it's the "spicy cinnamon toffee".
repurchase? maybe - Sunny Side bubble bar -- yes, they rolled it in glitter!
→→→ didn't smell that citrusy in the bath, solid--it kinda did. but it was ok..
repurchase? meh - The Ex Factor bath bomb -- the baton rouge store didn't have these, but macy's lakeside did!
→→→ it does smell like butterball. but not completely. i don't know why, but it has a scent that, even if it's not your favorite smell, you can't stop smelling it! i am a weirdo. break in half. turns the water bright blue. >w<
repurchase? yes - Two Timing Tart bubble bar -- i haven't seen these in the stores
→→→ the scent wasn't quite what i was expecting, not strawberries and cream at all--maybe it's the flowers.. use whole.
repurchase? meh - Tea Tree Water (3.3oz) -- i just wanted to try this out.
→→→ i don't know why, but i love the way this smells, hah-weirdo. probably better to use during the winter, mosquitos ate me alive during the spring/summer when i used it.
repurchase? not sure; i like that it's a spray mist for body--particularly when i got sunburned; for my face, i'd rather cotton ball it on rather than off...which is kinda annoying with a spray bottle.. - T Tree toner tab -- wanted to try this too.
→→→ i ended up giving this away because i never used it.
repurchase? nah - Love Potion massage bar -- both macy's lakeside and bluebonnet mall were out and i wanted more...had to order them or face disappointment and mardi gras parade traffic driving down decatur.
→→→ see above. - Aromaco deodorant (not pictured)
→→→ i think the smell is more masculine than feminine and the scent is kind of strong, but not overwhelming. as a deodorant, it doesn't stand up to Louisiana humidity.
repurchase? i'm not dry, so why should i?
- Happy Hippy shower gel
→→→ smells so good >w< i love grapefruits and..even though i thought it smelled like oranges/citrus at first. ^^; still love the scent! lathers up really nice, scent lightly lingers but quickly fades.
repurchase? maybe - Karma soap
→→→ i couldn't place the scent without looking it up, and...not that i've been to a middle-eastern spice market--i haven't, but i guess it's kind of what i imagine one to smell like. ^^; feels moisturizing and smells soooo good!
repurchase? yes
- Donkey Oaty bath bomb
→→→ it says "floral scent", but all i smell is straight rose oil...which i do. not. like. not too bad when mixed with other products.
repurchase? no - Hippy Chick bath bomb
→→→ doesn't quite smell the same to me as happy hippy, it smells more like tang or powdered oj.
repurchase? undecided - Carrot Top reusable bubble bar
→→→ i can't make out what this smells like... @lilactinggirl says it bubbles more if you hold it under the running faucet vs. swishing it around the tub. i liked the scent: lightly floral and it was definitely a lot better holding it under the faucet than "swishing it". >.> lasted 3 baths.
repurchase? maybe - The Immaculate Eggception (pink & yellow) bath bomb
→→→ this is, by far, the best idea ever! basically, you can get 3 uses out of these. lightly tap the egg on a surface and voilà! the outer "shell" splits, revealing an "egg yolk" bath bomb! ok so maybe i'm crazy, but side by side smell test shows that i prefer the scent of the yellow one over the pink one. i thought they were supposed to smell the same? i'm so confused!!! and it's not to say i hate the pink one, i like it, it smells nice. but i like the yellow one's scent more... pink's small egg: the chick's beak is a piece of candy that does not dissolve in the bath, has a very strong, sweet grapefruit scent.
repurchase? yes to yellow! - Fluffy Egg bath bomb
→→→ it smells like a cheap valentine's or easter candy; kind of like candy hearts and bubble gum. gives the water a soft, silky feel.
repurchase? maybe - Turbo bubble bar
→→→ this is actually on the fond farewells page; so i'm not sure if this was seasonal or if they're getting rid of it completely. i know that floral-grass is a terrible description for this scent, but i'm not a fan.. hopefully in a bath it'll be better. [...not really.] rolled in purple tinted glitter.
repurchase? no - Ocean Salt cleanser
→→→ see above - Sweetheart soap
→→→ see above - Demon in the Dark soap (sample)
→→→ smells minty plus something (lush.com reviewers say "it smells like toothpaste"); definitely a cooling or refreshing scent. but i like minty stuff! so after using it, it doesn't feel very moisturizing...
repurchase? meh - MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment
→→→ see above - Dream Cream lotion (sample)
→→→ i haven't been able to place the smell, but i'm stretching it a bit when i say it smells like sunscreen. which brand and all, i'm not sure, but the scent reminds me of sunscreen when i was little. so far, i've used this on my sunburned, chapped, peeling shoulders and it seems to help. don't understand all the hype over it; it's almost like regular lotion to me, just way more expensive because it's au natural.
repurchase? meh
mother's day haul [4/27/12]
- Dream Wash (sample)
→→→ like i said somewhere above, i like shower gels and such. this is like a creamy paste and i didn't like it. my skin felt weird after using it; maybe because it absorbed all of the oils etc from dream wash, i don't know. but it just felt like i had to go over it with shower gel. that's just me..
repurchase? no - Ultra Bland (sample)
→→→ too thick for me! it felt like i couldn't wash it all off. yes it says to washcloth it off or something..but still. will try it again with a washcloth, but we'll see.
repurchase? no - Whoosh shower jelly (sample)
→→→ i like the scent of sweetie pie more, this has a citrusy-herbal scent. not bad, but i like sweet scents more.
repurchase? nah - Putty for Your Hands
→→→ smells like lavender and tea tree for sure! feels very moisturizing. the bar itself has a weird feel to it, like it feels like modeling clay.
repurchase? maybe - Yuzu & Cocoa bubbleroon
→→→ smells like oranges and chocolate. as some of you may know, i had a chocolate "allergy" for a while and afterward, had a great aversion to chocolate and chocolate-scented things.. but this, this i like. it's not overpowering and has a good blend of both scents.
repurchase? probably - Madame Butterfly, The Mum, & Mum Tulip reusable bubble bars were gifted but smell like the three bubbleroons (rose jam, green, yuzu & cocoa)
→→→ love that they give you some wildflower seeds so you don't throw the tag away!
- Karma bubble bar
→→→ smells exactly like the soap! love the scent! unfortunately, for the money, i feel that it should be larger. it's about half the thickness and smaller (length-wise) than the comforter..for close to the same price.. comes in two shapes. use halved. repurchase? maybe
- Blackberry
→→→ has a surprise inside if you split it. store employees say to try this one if you like the comforter, but it's not the exact scent and i like the scent of the comforter more. paul likes it.
repurchase? probably - Heavanilli
→→→ smells very good; vanilla with a light perfumey fragrance
repurchase? maybe, paul likes love potion more
- Ceridwen's Cauldron bath melt→→→ smells similar to buffy. melts the same way as you've been mangoed. keep it in the bag, it's there for a reason.repurchase? maybe
- Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds bubble bar→→→ i really liked the patchouli in karma soap, but i'm not so sure about this one. was skeptical at first, but i enjoyed the scent in the tub! use ¼-½.repurchase? maybe/nah
- Ma Bar bubble bar→→→ doesn't really smell chocolaty, but i do faintly smell toffee. bubbled nicely and in the bath, smelled like toffee. relaxing.repurchase? maybe
- Dreamtime bath melt→→→ scent reminds me of my goats milk makeup brush shampoo, they aren't the same but they smell similar. contains jasmine buds. i think i still like you've been mangoed more.repurchase? nah
- Geo Phyzz bath bomb→→→ smells like sandalwood and pine...mmmm woodsy! smells and feels relaxing, has salt crystals that melt in the bathrepurchase? maybe
- A French Kiss bubble bar→→→ i do not get it; it smells like mint to me!!! so in the bath, it smelled like mint and lavender, more on the lavender side. has a sprig of lavender in it. very relaxing, use whole.repurchase? probably
- Golden Slumbers bath bomb→→→ whole: i'm not huge on this scent. i don't really like the ratio of chamomile to lavender. releases lavender particles (plant stalks and buds)--which was kinda weird.repurchase? maybe
- Vanilla Fountain bath bomb→→→ vanilla with a light lemony scent. fizzes quickly, has a piece of vanilla bean in it. use whole.repurchase? probably
- Rub Rub Rub shower scrub sample→→→ i don't know what mimosa blossoms smell like, but it does smell floral with a hint of citrus. has fine salt granules in it (table salt size) and smells very similar to sakura. as far as exfoliating effectiveness, i'd need to buy it and try it consistently, but it was nice and not as harsh as ocean salt. lathers a little. i think it's easier to use/see when bathing rather than showering, and i'd rather it in a squeeze bottle.repurchase? maybe
- Sandstone soap→→→ i am in love with this scent! one of my favorite smells is lemongrass sage, and this isn't exactly lemongrass sage, but it's very similar! love it!!!!! has sand particles in it, very nice and exfoliating!repurchase? yes
- Rockstar soap→→→ smells like candy and vanilla, feels very creamy and moisturizingrepurchase? maybe
- Honey Bee bath bomb→→→ smells like honey and flowers (maybe it's the orange oil). scent is not as prevalent in the bath, but still feels nice. doesn't make the water silky--as the site says--in my opinion.repurchase? maybe
- Big Blue bath bomb→→→ this scent definitely makes me think of the beach. beware of the spinning spiky blue ball!! there's dried seaweed inside, so it looks like a spiky ball until it fizzes away. the seaweed is kinda weird. i dunno, i think if i got it again, i'd put it in cheesecloth or something. there's weird stuff floating in my tub!repurchase? maybe
- Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb→→→ has a light fragrance, the most prevalent is lavender. doesn't smell like anything in the bath, i guess it'd be good for people sensitive to smells.repurchase? nah
- Space Girl bath bomb→→→ this is what i wanted blackberry to smell like. i think this smells like the comforter and i love it! releases glitter. use whole.repurchase? yes!
- Sakura bath bomb→→→ smells just like sakura blossoms! scent is strong and lingers in the bath.repurchase? yes
- Phoenix Rising bath bomb→→→ i loved this one! i like cinnamon scents and i could smell some sort of floral in it too (i guess it was apple--so the site says). it doesn't fizz quickly like most other bath bombs, it slowly fizzes away and the center fizzes slightly slower than a regular bath bomb. so, if you want it to finish fizzing shortly after you get in the tub, maybe try putting it in while the water's running. use whole.repurchase? yes
- Pumpkin soap→→→ smells like pumpkin spice! >w<repurchase? yes!
- Rocketeer bath bomb→→→ despite how it appears to be completely 3D, it's flat on the bottom. sweet scented, turns the water sea-green.repurchase? probably
- Charity Pot lotion→→→ i got a small one because the full amount you pay goes toward charities. i don't particularly like the smell, it's kinda floral. but we'll see. it smells rosy to me, but it doesn't say it has rose oil, so maybe it's the other flowers... regardless, it feels like a normal lotion, so aside from the donation, i'd pass on it. used it primarily on my arms and legs and got about 5 uses out of it.repurchase? nah
- Calacas shower jelly -- the shape reminds me of mexican skull art!→→→ i cannot for my life figure out what scent this reminds me of! it's something citrusy/limey that reminds me of halloween parties or candy..something! love this scent! ........lemon jello.repurchase? yes!
- Wiccy Magic Muscles
→→→ it's a very spicy cinnamon. love it~! teh paul is sad that it's $11/bar. he loves it!
repurchase? yes!
- Oatifix fresh face mask→→→ @lilactinggirl picked this up (along with bb seaweed and love lettuce) for my bachelorette party and i loved it! paul liked the scent so much he was pretending to take a spoon to it! it smells like oatmeal cookies..or like sugar cookie dough. and bananas... it looks like cookie dough...hmmm.. ^____^ ..so, applying it myself rather than @lilactinggirl, it literally felt like i opened up a roll of pillsbury sugar cookie dough (dough's texture at room temp.) and then rubbed it onto my face, so it's like thick and kinda clumpy. but it smells really good..so it balances out! how to use it: scoop out desired amount try to warm it up in your hands a bit before trying to spread it on your face, if you use it straight out of the fridge you'll just have a bunch of giant globs that won't spread or stick and it'll be a very cold lump on your face. wait 10 minutes and wash off. made about 6 masks.repurchase? yes
- The Enchanter bath bomb→→→ i don't know how i want to describe the scent exactly..citrusy/fruity. turns the bath a pinkish orange shade.repurchase? maybe
- Candy Mountain bubble bar→→→ smells really sweet! i don't know why i keep thinking of charlie the unicorn; what a weird cartoon! on youtube, search "charlie the unicorn candy mountain". scent is very close from bubble bar to bath. bath water turns a green-hued muddy color. use halved or whole.repurchase? maybe
- Melting Snowman bath melt→→→ scent reminds me of wiccy magic muscles! mmm! melts away slowly, the nose does not disinegrate.repurchase? probably
- North Pole soap→→→ very minty! i love it! this is very similar to demon in the dark as far as mintyness, but not as intense.repurchase? maybe
- Sandy Santa salt/sugar scrub→→→ doesn't smell much like anything. break into pieces before using. ¼ worked for my arms and legs before melting to oblivion. the red portion, when it melts, makes a crazy looking orangy-blood-red color---but it doesn't stain your skin or the tub/shower. the salt does not dissolve away completely if used in the bath--aka, you may need to rinse the tub afterward...grittiness! it felt similar to ocean salt, but this was a lot finer and has more consistently-shaped granules and obviously not as watery or milky as it is a solid piece.repurchase? maybe
- Cinders bath bomb→→→ one of @lilactinggirl's favorites! wanted to try it (finally)! turns the water a pale orange. crackles as it dissolves, smells like warm, wintery cinnamon and spice.repurchase? yes
- Ice Blue soap→→→ smells like peppermint! almost smells masculine, but i think it'd work for either. the white parts don't melt away at the same rate as the rest of the soap, so they're still fairly solid and about the same size by the time you're through with the blue soap.repurchase? maybe/meh
[1/31/14]
- close to you massage bar→→→ this has very candy-like scent. it melts extremely easily, as it is called a "smooshable" bar. like a few other massage bars, the pink dyes used to color it transfer to clothing, fabrics, etc. very easily. on white, this one shows up as highlighter-pink. while it does wash out, i've been using a stain stick (or spot remover stick) to pre-treat the fabrics just in case.repurchase? no
- love locket bath bomb→→→ this didn't have much of a surprise inside...when you break it open, there's a flat heart-shaped piece inside. relative to the immaculate eggception, this inner heart is not big enough for it's own bath. i'd say this bath bomb is good for ~2 baths. i'd definitely consider repurchasing because of the scent. i haven't used the front half yet, but i think the yellow part is where the paper hearts are...repurchase? yes
- tender is the night massage bar→→→ hubz approved.repurchase? yes
[12/28/15]
- intergalactic bath bomb→→→ this was a really nice one! it was super prettyful, turning the water a deep sparkly blue. the scent was pretty good too, slightly rosy but overall i enjoyed it. and it had popping..things..in it, so that was kind of neat!repurchase? maybe
[8/6/17]
- the experimenter→→→ finally updating this page a year later, but i don't recall my feelings on this one. i already had the "nah" below...so nah?
repurchase? nah - 93,000 miles→→→ i really liked this one, mostly because it's the same scent as wiccy magic muscles! mmmm!repurchase? yes
[8/26/18]
- dark arts jelly bomb→→→ this was an interesting one. while i liked the scent and all, the jelly-ness of it was kind of weird and different. at one point there were small globular bits of jelly (jello-like) floating about. super strange!
repurchase? nah
