over a year of macy's beauty boxes

hiya! i don't believe i've ever posted about these before, but sometime in august of last year, i opted into the macy's beauty box program. these run at $15 + tax, and you can subscribe by searching the macy's website for "beauty box" and clicking subscribe. i really like getting these boxes because there's usually a nice variety of products that come in these that i may or may not have heard of, brands that aren't found at sephora or ulta, or weird/funky items. and they typically include a coupon for $5 or $10 off your beauty purchase every month, which is awesome! same with the ipsy post, i'm not going to go into detail on every item i'd received, since i didn't keep or use everything. enjoy! ~Lindsay

September 2018

1. i used to love dr. bronner's peppermint pure castile soap for cleaning makeup brushes. these days it kinda sits in my cabinet collecting dust because i've found that bar soaps work wayyy better. i have tried this as a shaving lubricant before, and it worked well, but my skin was kinda weird and unhappy afterward.
2. donna karan cashmere mist deodorant -- omg this stuff. tiffany d mentioned these all. the. time. yes the scent is pretty strong, but it's really nice. and as far as an antiperspirant, it is amazing and works well in louisiana heat and humidity.
3. and, i've already mentioned that i love sunday riley good genes.

October & November 2018

1. i think i passed along the lancome monsieur big mascara because this one was waterproof and i don't typically wear waterproof mascaras, but i really like the regular formula.
2. estee lauder advanced night repair eye complex -- i really like this product. i've gone through several samples of this and i love how it feels (slightly siliconey in texture) and takes care of my under eyes.
3. i know i used it, but i can't remember what i thought of the it superhero liner. i want to say it worked well.
4. i tried the clinique dd hydrating jelly, and i'm not a fan. ddm gel all the way!
5. as a weird item to kind of throw in, panties... these wacoal bikinis are great.

December 2018 & January 2019

1. i didn't end up keeping anything in the december bag.
2. same as before, i really like the dr. brandt microdermabrasion line!
3. and these tony moly lemon eye patches are sitting with my backlog of sheet masks.. i'll get there eventually!

February & March 2019

1. i haven't been using it lately, but i really like using the micro mini beautyblenders for applying correcting concealers, used wet. when dry, i tend to use them to pick up eyeshadow fall out.
2. clinique high impact mascara is a classic!
3. i really really love ysl black opium perfume! so good!
4. and yes, those are pasties that they included in the february box. 🙊
5. i always thought that SK-II essence smelled weird, but for some reason, this one didn't. i used it, and really liked it. buuut it's so expensive. 😭
6. i can't remember what i thought of these rose quartz eye masks from skin gym. they were cute with the heart shapes on them, but i don't really recall their effectiveness.

April & May 2019

1. for some reason the april box arrived completely mangled and missing the included pamphlet.... but i think i kept only two of the items pictured here. the koh gen do cleansing spa water, which was ok, i prefer bioderma. and the grande mascara, which is actually pretty good. it's super wet though and the wand kind of gets overloaded, but it's a great formula.
2. i think i passed this one along, but i've used the clinique pretty easy liner in the past and liked it. i want to say that it doesn't hold up to tears very well though.
3. i've used this bosica detoxifying black cleanser before in the past, it's nice but not a must for me.
4. i don't use it very often, but i like the girlaktic invisible shadow primer/eraser liner. it helps with removing any mistakes very easily and doesn't disturb surrounding makeup.

June & July 2019

1. i'm not entirely sure what they were thinking when they included this microscopic brush roll to this grouping. it's a nice color and quality and all, but you can't really put anything useful into it.
2. as much as i love the sunday riley ceo cream, the oil is not for me. the scent is kind of weird (almost, but not quite like the luna oil) and i just didn't like using it.
3. i've never really liked the tarte lights camera lashes mascara. it's too natural looking and i'm a volume kinda girl!

August & September 2019

1. i passed off the tony moly cherry lip balm, but it's sooo cute. i do recommend their bbo bbo lip balms of the past, and hopefully these are quite similar!
2. the SK-II sheet mask is also among the backlog. 😞
3. i love urban decay 24/7 liner pencils. chaos is a bit out of what i'd normally wear, since it's more of a matte royal blue, but i likes it.
4. this was the first time i actually kept and used the clinique take the day off cleansing balm. i liked it and it worked well, but i prefer a different brand more. i typically remove my eye makeup separately because i tend to need something more powerful.
5. i've had a full size of tarte's amazonian clay blush in exposed for a while now, and i've always been on the fence about it. it just never felt like it applied the same as the other shades in the range or it never built up and showed on my skin.
6. this brush/sponge...thing... they included is super weird. no thanks.

October & November 2019

1. i've used koh gen do pure cotton in the past, purchasing a full size at that time. i liked having the sample of it again, but i still think i prefer the shiseido ones.
2. too faced better than sex mascara is so good!
3. i really love the ysl mon paris perfume as well. i know they're nothing alike and i'm terrible at describing scents, but it's like a different version of their black opium perfume.
