october 2017: sephora play!

hi guys! this month's sephora play arrived today! (theme: complexion companions) ~Lin-chan ^.~
  1. makeup forever ultra hd invisible cover foundation in Y245 -- previously i received samples in Y225, which i think was too light for me and i didn't really use it aside from the first try. based on swatches, i think this may fit me better and i'll have to update later with color match and thoughts. if i remember though, i did like this foundation and didn't have any issues with it aside from the color.
    repurchase? undecided
  2. makeup forever ultra hd skin booster -- mufe serum? hmm, this sounds interesting. so is it like a primer? i'll have to try this out!
    repurchase? undecided
  3. urban decay optical illusion complexion primer -- i don't remember what it was about this primer that i didn't like, but i didn't like it and gave it away. this one will be going too.
    repurchase? no
  4. dr. brandt poreDermabrasion -- i think gotten one of these in the past? i don't remember all of their scrubs are packaged the same >.< either way, i do like their scrubs and will be using this.
repurchase? probably not for the cost
  5. tarte rainforest of the sea marine boosting mist -- i got one of these in a 500 point perk or something way back when and never used it. i guess i should give one away and use the other at some point....
    repurchase? probably not
  6. tory burch bel azur perfume sample -- not a huge fan of this, but i haven't come across a tory burch fragrance that i've liked.
    repurchase? no
  7. 'coupon' for an extra 50 points on the next in-store purchase

october 2017 ipsy bag!

hi all! my october IPSY BAG* (theme: spellbound) arrived yesterday and i pulled it out of the mailbox this morning, so it's impressions time! ~Lin-chan ^.~
  1. urban decay 24/7 eyeliner in perversion -- how many of these will i end up owning?! i somehow don't have a spare of this pencil... weird! but i'm planning to keep this because perversion in my naked2 pencil seems to be dried out (but pistol isn't? love that shade!).
    • repurchase: never going to need to!
      • it cosmetics bye bye pores pressed powder -- this is a translucent powder that i received a full size of in a lucky bag. it was great at pore perfecting/minimizing/smoothing or whatever, but i am going to pass this along because it gave me a serious white cast. i am the type to set my whole face, as opposed to just concealer since i'm oily/combo.
        • repurchase: no
          • hey honey trick and treat: active propolis cream concealer -- is it normal to be annoyed that a product only comes in one shade? spread thickly, to actually conceal anything, this is the complete wrong shade for me. thinned and blended out, it matches great, but there's no coverage. so that's pretty lame. it has a slight scent to it, which is kind of weird, and this is apparently for normal to dry skin, and i have combo/oily, so i'm not really sure why i received this.
            • repurchase: undecided
          • marc anthony hydrating coconut oil & shea butter oil treatment -- i feel like i've gotten one of these before somewhere..? i'm not sure, but ipsy does send me marc anthony regularly. anyway, this smells really good and i'm interested in trying this.
            • repurchase: probably not, got too many other similar products
          • demelect cosmeceuticals nail laquer in verdure -- i think i'm going to pass this along because i don't plan on wearing this color. this is a glossy forest green shade.
            • repurchase: not this shade
          • red lacey ipsy bag -- i can't decide if the lace is glued on or if it's printed/painted on...? either way, i really like how subtle and cute it is! also, the zipper pull is a bat shape! so cute!

          ud perversion, hey honey concealer

          september empties & makeup graveyard

hi guys! i've got a lot of empties to share this month! trying to use stuff up before the move! ~Lindsay

          1. simple cleansing wipes
          2. member's mark makeup remover wipes
          3. tree hut sugar scrub in passion fruit and guava
          4. the body shop tea tree oil
          5. bioderma sebium mini
          6. loreal voluminous lash paradise mascara in black
          7. pixi beauty endless silky liner in black
          8. urban decay all nighter setting spray mini
          9. urban decay eyeliner in underground -- lookit that lil bitty nub!
          10. urban decay vice liquid lipstick mini in amulet
          11. maybelline baby skin primer
          12. maybelline fit me matte+poreless foundation in 120
          13. rimmel london stay matte powder in transluscent
          14. kat von d tattoo liner in trooper
          15. yes to tomatoes detoxifying charcoal mud mask
          16. jergens bb body cream in light to medium
          17. ion extreme moisture creme -- not only did they repackage this product, but the scent in it is too perfumy floral something. i don't really like it. as a deep conditioner, it's still great, but i liked the original better.
          18. loreal micellar water for normal to oily skin -- while i think this product worked and did the job, as far as drugstores i think i still prefer the red garnier one.
            repurchase? nah
          19. formula 10.0.6 best face forward cleanser -- this was an ok cleanser. it made its way into my travel bag because i didn't like it all that much. it was a sort of thin cleanser that didn't foam as much as it sounded like it should have. i otherwise didn't have any issues with it, and the scent was pleasant.
            repurchase? no
          20. candles by victoria tiffany d 2.0 candle -- ugh i'm sad that this is gone, but it was close to the end and i wanted to burn it up and have one less candle for the move. i love this one. it's such a great blend of warmer fragrances. i still like the original tiffany d candle, which is like cotton candy sweet. both are yummm!
            repurchase? eventually!
          21. michael todd charcoal detox gel cleanser -- this took me forever to use up. mostly because it's a super thick consistency. i have like a face scrubber pad that i love from earth therapeutics that i would use with this. anyway, i think this was too much for my skin, because i'd always find a zit or two within a day or two of using this. to use it up, i forced myself to use it twice a week.
          22. da bomb candy bath bomb -- like their other one that i tried, this wasn't anything special. it didn't smell like cotton candy to me, but it wasn't unpleasant. the surprise inside was the little candy shaped eraser pictured.
            repurchase? nah
          23. treat marshmallow cream lip balm -- this is such a good deal for a lip balm. it's massive, it's kind of expensive (like $10?), but it lasts! i got this last christmas and it lasted me almost 9 months of twice daily use. that's crazy!
            repurchase? already did!
          24. verb ghost oil -- this lil thing took forever and a day to use up! if you applied too much, you'd be an oily mess. you'd have to dispense the perfect amount or that's it. otherwise, this was a pretty decent product, helped keep my bedhead at bay. but it's not that life changing or necessary that i need to buy more.
            repurchase? nah
          25. bobbi brown eye makeup remover -- i got this in a 500 point sephora set. while this is a pretty good eye makeup remover, i think i'll stick with cheaper alternatives.
            repurchase? nah
          26. bobbi brown hydrating eye cream -- this came in the above mentioned 500 point sephora set. this product was one of two reasons why i cashed in my points. i heard so many great things about this eye cream, and when i got it, i wasn't impressed. it had a weird scent and it was only ok for me. it didn't do anything special for me. but at the very least i was glad that i didn't buy a whole jar of this to find that out.
            repurchase? nah
makeup graveyard: i ended up going through my polish stash to clean it out of colors i don't want and will likely never ever use. these unfortunately had some issue or another with them. the pink gel coat was starting to get goopy but i love that stuff and already got a replacement. as far as polishes going off, that fingerpaints one is supposed to be blue. that was blue raspberry taffy, now it's grey bleh. and that del sol polish.. it was a metallic sky blue that changed to metallic lime green, now it's a mix of both. i think it's lived a good life, i bought it 20 years ago on my first cruise! 😳 and as much as i didn't want to part with it, i loved tarte's skinny smolderEyes pencils, particularly this one in onyx. but it's dried up and separating from the wood, and it needs to go.

erin condren hourly life planner - my september

hi guys! it's october, and you know what that means? we're closing on our house this month!!!!!!! omg cannot wait! otherwise, i don't really have a whole lot else to say aside from it was a busy month! ~Lindsay
monthly calendar spread: this month, my spread is from TheCoffeeMonsterzCo. sooo pretty!
week 1: so, fun fact, we did some stuff for the client between the second and third quarter.. the upgrades and go live.. anyway, my manager recognized my coworker and i, and we got bonuses!
week 2: soo.. i suck at words, but less than 48 hours after getting my tires rotated, i got a screw in my tire, which was annoying and sucked, and i most likely got it from parking in front of our house. in other news, it was our 10 year high school reunion at a local bowling alley, which was cool. i didn't end up taking many pictures there because it was kind of dark and stuff, but here's a pic S took of T and I circa 10.3 years ago in our favorite english teacher's class, probably doing some other class's homework that was due that day... lol!
week 3: it took a couple days, but i located the screw. went to get my tire patched and they said that this is considered "road hazard" whatever that means, and they needed to replace the tire. thankfully where i bought it, road hazard protection was part of the installation package, so i only ended up paying for them to install a new tire. but it's still pretty annoying that these tires are just over a year old...
week 4: so. PBC sale. i spent an absurd amount of money on stickers alone...in one shot. (thankfully the charges made it onto the next billing cycle! w00t!) then i also bought christmas presents on top of that. then, T and I went to ulta because the co-founder of it cosmetics, jamie kern lima, was in town!!!! then i went to a not gender reveal party.. the way the invite was written i thought it was, but this was a regular shower and they don't want to know the gender until it comes out and had us take a poll of what we thought it may be! i also really liked the idea of using books as the gift's 'card', writing a note on the inside cover to the baby.
week 5: we both got paid on friday and spent basically all our paychecks on appliances. there was a snafu with the refrigerator we ordered back during the memorial day sale (end of May), and basically the delivery company couldn't hold onto it long enough for us to close on the house. so they ended up cancelling the delivery and we had to cancel the order. long story short, we were able to use my corporate discounts to reorder the same fridge for a grand total (taxes and delivery) of less than the sale price (pre-tax and delivery) that we originally paid! 😲 as well as ordering the washer, dryer, and pedestals i wanted (paid extra for that gray! who wants white?), also for less than the sales prices we've seen. so that was pretty cool! adulting.
notes page: and finally, i've used the notes page before the month was over! i started writing out a list of stuff we need to do this month with the house and the move. i may be filling in a few more items as i think of them, but that's that.

september hauls - planner and makeup

hi guys! we've got a pretty big haul this time relative to recent months! anyway, enjoy! ~Lindsay

sephora fall preview -- so, i got an email to do rouge-y things. so T and i went and checked out the event because, ugh why not?! we got to check out the new fenty stuff at least! anyway, we both left empty handed, but i ended up going online afterward and buying these two sephora favorites sets anyway because they're such a good deal! so i got the glow for it (highlighters) set and hair rescue, which has a ton of hair masks, and i redeemed points for a makeup forever liquid lipstick in rosewood. i think part of what sparked this was the fenty foundation sample with a code. they also had sample cards, which i also got for T to try. so far i'm liking the foundation, and i will have to give a better report when i finish this sample!

nudestix illumi-naughty, milk makeup highlighter in lit, tarte highlighter in exposed, benefit cosmetics high beam, bobbi brown shimmer brick
in bronze (top and bottom halves, mixed), cover fx custom enhancer drops in moonlight, becca shimmering skin perfector pressed in moonstone

makeup forever artist liquid matte lipstick in 105 rosewood

fenty beauty foundation in 150, mufe 105 rosewood
colourpop -- i ended up placing two orders with colourpop, mostly because the concealer was out of stock when i wanted to place the first order. the first order was a must because they were having a buy two get one on lippies (can't remember if it was only for liquids..?) and i needed a new tube of beeper, i also ended up getting a few shadows and two brushes - the tapered blending brush and small fluff brush. the second order, as mentioned above, was for the concealer in light 20 and one of the new fall shadows, glass bull. i have not used all of these very much just yet, but i've tried the concealer once and haven't fully made a decision on it yet.
            1. ulta -- so ulta 21 days of beauty/beauty deals. got a mac velvet teddy lipstick, mally volumizing mascara, and smashbox travel size photo finish primer. i also got another bronx colors eyeshadow in amethyst. thennn, T and i went to the meet and greet when the it cosmetics founder, jamie kern lima, came to town and ulta's carrying memebox items now! so i had to get this cute cat headband!
            2. sephora -- i can't recall why i had to place this order, but anyway i got a bottle of the new perfect formula ruby pink gel coat because my (original) pink gel coat was getting goopy and i wanted to give this a try. i like it, but i like the original more i think. i also got a glamglow bubble sheet mask and a rosebud perfume co menthol and eucalyptus lip balm -- i've heard good things about their rosebud salve, but roses... so far so good with this lip balm, it's a little different than what i'm used to, but i need to keep trying it and see.
            3. amazon -- so funny story about this order.. i only wanted lemonheads candy. i have no idea why, and as a kid, i never really liked them. but one of my coworkers had some leftover halloween candy on her desk and that's the only thing i've been picking out of there lately....... anyway, of course amazon has their add-on item program, and of course those fall under that category..... so i bought some more aussie 3 minute miracle since i'm going to need more deep conditioners soon anyway!
            4. walmart? target? i don't remember where i bought it, but i got a yes to tomatoes 2 step nose kit to try. it's interesting that it's a 2 step system as opposed to the asian ones which are 3 steps.

glass bull, come and get it, ego, liar liar (swatched dry), concealer in light 20, 951, flitter, beeper

            amethyst, velvet teddy

            951

            flitter

beeper -- recycling photos from nearly 2 years ago!

            mac velvet teddy
pandora charms -- so i've been trying to buy my mom a particular pandora charm for like over a year now. the only problem with it was that it was not released in the US (from what i understand) and it is retired. so i finally was able to buy it at a reasonable price but i had to buy a couple more to be able to use the coupon code for this etsy shop.... anyway, i got myself a retired bead as well as a new bead. i also can't remember if i ever mentioned it, but i got 4 of these spacer/stopper charms from amazon. not sure if they're still available, because i was having trouble finding the newer listing when i tried to order the second pair.

planner stuffs -- here's the link to my etsy list of purchased planner stuff
A Happy Blue Tree -- gotta get my holiday kawaii!
Creating&Co -- i had been eyeing this monthly kit for a bit and ended up getting it! and omg her owls are so freakin cute!
the next three shops, while i knew they were all part of the fall PBC sale, i still ordered from them anyway.
Stickeriffic -- pretty sure she's been having regularly occurring 50% off sales... anyway, i didn't actually need any of these, but i wanted to empty my cart! >w<
(for those who don't know, you can save items for later in your etsy cart)
TheCoffeeMonsterzCO -- look at how beautiful this weekly kit is! ugh! and i had to get this year's halloween costume emotis!

OnceMoreWithLove -- there is only one reason for this order. well several, but.... SAILOR MOON munchkins. disney princesses, hocus pocus, addams family, avengers, and more! all of these sheets were absolutely necessary in my life.
