fall 2014 favorites & regrets

hi guys! here's what i've been loving (and not) for the past season! this time, we've got more randoms! ~Lin-chan ^.~
update: i'll try to have the fall empties and december hauls posts up within the week, i'm waiting on one last item and december's empties aren't with me to photograph..

M536, I524, I550, D652, ME728, ME230, D926, ME930; rose velvet
favorites:
  • tony moly bbo bbo lip balm in honey -- i love how this lip balm feels, and the scent's not exactly honey with a bit of floral. i bought the blueberry one too but i haven't started using it yet.
  • benefit fakeup concealer in light -- this is great for my dry patches. i don't recommend using this under your eyes because it may be too much moisture, but if used in moderation, maybe it'll work.
  • anastasia brow wiz in dark brown -- i got this in the sephora super stars set for this year and it was something i've been wanting to try for a while since people on the youtube are crazy for it. this product's not a must, but i love how small and precise the tip is.
    • i kept opening up the wrong side (for the spoolie), so i painted the pencil cap. lol.
  • mufe artist palette -- this is a great palette. the price is right to try a sampling of their new range of eyeshadows. i'm definitely ordering full sizes of some of these if/when i hit pan
    • particularly shades M536, I524, I550, ME728
  • revlon rose velvet lipstick -- i bought this lipstick on a whim and it turned out to be a new favorite shade! it's the perfect dusty pink for me!
  • sigma 3DHD kabuki brush -- this was an unexpected favorite. i don't totally like the paintbrush style application that you get from this, but it's so nice and the pointed edge is so great in harder to reach areas, like the under eye.
  • sephora collection citrus brush cleaner -- i was pleasantly surprised when i first started using this stuff. it's way better than their regular brush cleaner spray and it works almost on par with the makeup forever one..not quite, but my bristles come out very clean whenever i use this. and the citrus scent is not too bad (citrus oils..?)
  • wayne goss holiday brushes -- omg these are the brushes to invest in. for the past several weeks, i've been using these two brushes exclusively to apply three different products in one shot. like i will apply bronzer to the side, dust off the brush, go into the blush with the side, dust it off, and add highlighter with the pointed tip.
    • complaint: while i like how pristine the white bristles are, they look kinda gross pretty fast......
  • [not pictured]
    • estee lauder double wear light in intensity 2.0 -- this stuff is teh awesome amazingness. i wasn't sure what shade i was for the regular double wear, so i opted for the light version since the shade range was smaller. and if this product is like this full cover on me, i'm scared about the regular's full potential, it seems like it'll be a tooon more coverage than i'd need.
      • complaint: this stuff is freaking difficult to fully remove from my brushes. even if i wash them right after using with dr. bronner's, there's still a stain. boooo.
    • deluxe original beauty box -- (seen here) this thing is such an awesome upgrade from the lil bitty three drawer that i got at the container store. i've since rearranged it's contents a bunch of times, but it's still super amazing. and holds a lot [but not all] of the things.
random favorites [not pictured]:
  • softsoap ultra rich shea butter hand soap -- i have no idea why i like this stuff so much. i'm not usually huge into moisturizing/lotiony soaps but this one is teh bestest evar.
  • yissine sanuki instant udon -- this stuff is teh yums. it's kinda expensive at our local korean store, $6 for 2 servings, but it's so good. it's one that needs refrigeration because the noodles are semi-fresh. and it comes with a soy sauce-ish soup base, a seasoning packet of dried stuff (onions, fish cake, etc.), and the udon noodles. i love how it's authentic japanese udon *made by koreans. just saying. lol. it's still derricious though.
  • turkey meatloaf recipe -- i found this recipe because i was trying to figure out other ways to use ground turkey, and the ingredients happened to be stuff we have all the time anyway. i'm not a huge meatloaf fan, but this recipe's pretty good.
    • if you do make this, don't do the recommended amount of ketchup for the topping. it's not enough. eyeball it.
  • IBM x Steins;Gate collab videos -- omg, see this is another reason why i'll love working for IBM. they've made an anime version of Watson with a show that i loved. yes.
    • the fourth one is the top video, the first video they made is the second on this page.
  • Chainsaw by Family Force 5 (see music video) -- teh paul introduced me to ff5 when i was in high school, and their songs have pretty much always this way. they're like an alternative christian rock band, but their songs are super silly and don't have overbearing (or really any...) christian themes to them. anyway, occasionally, teh paul makes me a new cd for my car and this is one of the songs he chose a few months ago. this song is so stupid but it's super catchy, and i came across the music video when was trying to play the song to my sister in-law. and it's just as goofy as all their other ones, minus the giant gold gauntlets (yes, like the hulk smash hands for kids). anyway check it out.
  • 8gb ram stick -- yes. i love xmas. 4gb with windows 8.1 has been painful and now my laptop will stop freezing up for no reason! yes!
  • table and chairs -- this is super ridiculous to have as a favorite..but this is a grownup, yay furniture type feeling! now i'm feeling old-ish...happy for furniture..wow. ...ever since i moved into this apartment (8/2011) we've been using a really old card table and chairs, and paul would always unintentionally freak me out by putting all his weight onto the table as he gets onto and off his chair. fear the imminent collapse..... now we've got a more stable table. and i love it.
  • gray double breasted fleece jacket with removable hood from wet seal -- this is such a comfy jacket. it looks like a peacoat but it's a lighter fleece.
regrets [not pictured]:
  • covergirl ready set gorgeous foundation -- i was reluctant to buy this when it first came out, then tiffanyd raved about it..so i picked it up. and i honestly don't like the staying power on this stuff. it broke down around my nose after a few hours and i was super grease-city, even after setting it with my beloved stay matte powder and an oil-control setting spray. no thanks.
mehs [not pictured]:
  • maybelline brow drama -- while i do like this, the end of the wand is super annoying and ginormous. it's a cheaper alternative to the benefit gimme brow, except this makes your brows feel crunchy (but they don't look crunchy).
  • simple gel moisturizer -- this stuff was ok. i thought it'd be comparable to the clinique ddm gel but this is literally a gel--think aloe vera consistency. i think it'd be super refreshing in the summertime in the fridge, but otherwise, it was meh.
  • ulta precision liquid eyeliner pen -- the formula of this pen is actually pretty good, the biggest complaint is that the tip is so freakin stubby. maybe i'm just spoiled by the milani eye tech extreme pen? i think the issue is that the plastic holding the tip is fat and the felt tip is short and thin so it's kinda hard to use on its side, you kinda can only use the point.
  • revlon ultra hd lipstick in primrose -- an issue with this whole line is that the lipstick sticks out of the bullet and you have high chances of nicking the lipstick with the cap, until you wear it down enough. also, this color. while it's pretty, you have to layer it a lot for it to actually show up and it's patchy otherwise. i can't speak for the whole line, but this thing is not that impressive nor does it really feel special, hd..mhmmm. >.>
  • stila stay all day liquid liner in black -- this liner is pretty good in all respects. i like the pigmentation and the felt tip. the thing i hate though is that it bleeds into my fine lines, making it difficult to keep the line perfectly straight/sharp.
