hi guys! it's halloween! and it's haul time! and i was suuuuper bad this month..(or this year..?)... so yeah........ ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

there's also another haul item that i didn't mention in this post..because i already posted about it.. i bought a deluxe original beauty box because she was having a friends and family discount, and i've been wanting one in my life for like two or more years now... and we can just call it a "yay i finally got a job offer!!!!!!"-present to myself..even though i ordered it the day before i got my job offer. but i didn't have to tell ya that..! ^______^

also, in other good news, i found out that my raise at work went through. yuuusssssh! and they're in the works for me to work 25 hours next semester too, i just have to wait to pay the fee bill before that gets processed.

hi guys! i've got another haul sneaky peek for ya! also, there are a few other haul items in the photos below..see if you can spot them!

so i wanted to bring yall a new organization post since i have somethin new to talks about. around mid-october, there was a 15% off sale on original beauty boxes, so i went ahead and ordered a deluxe box since she only really has sales for like black friday/cyber monday and once some other random time of the year.. annnnd, my recollections cube organizer thingies were starting to get full as well as the lil cube organizer i got from the container store..so it was time for an upgrade and i've been wanting one of these for freaking ever. so i went ahead and paid the $150 (after the discount and shipping).

i didn't buy a set of their drawer liners..since they're kinda expensive, and because i still had extra from when i got my melmers. i think they're duck (brand) non-adhesive shelf liners, the super grip..? i remember they were more expensive than any other kind at walmart... i haven't decided if i'm going to put a shelf liner in the top drawer yet. i only had enough to cover the bottom four drawers. ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

target fall 2014 beauty box & impressions

hi all! this came in on saturday but i didn't get a chance to retrieve it from the apartment office until today. target's third beauty box was $7 this time around! (previously $5/ea.) anyway here's what i gots. ~Lin-chan ^.~

1. loreal elnett extra strong hold hairspray (2.2 oz--mini, ret. $6.69) -- again with hairsprays, this is something i'll have to get back to you guys about in the far future. i'm not a huge hairspray person so we'll have to see. has a powdery-type scent.
   repurchase? dunno yet
2. fekkai professional blowout hair refresher dry shampoo (1.7 oz--mini, ret. $7.99) -- try all the dry shampoos! i'm actually kinda backlogged on dry shampoos right now; i've been taking showers mostly in the mornings and letting my hair air dry while i'm at work/school. this smells really freaking good. like it smells like a normal liquid shampoo.
   repurchase? dunno yet
3. laneige bb cushion sampler packette (ret. $34 for .5oz) -- i got this in an ipsy bag a while back and while it's nice and good...it's so expensive and weird to apply.
   repurchase? no, will pass this off to a friend to try
4. nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk (.18 oz--full size, ret. $4.49) -- i'm still iffy on milk. i mean these jumbo eye pencils are great and all but i personally never really reach for them.
   repurchase? nah, will pass off to a friend
5. loreal color riche extraordinaire lipstick in nude ballet (.18 fl oz--full size, ret. $8.99) -- i've been wanting to try one of these. i was kinda iffy when they first came out. and i'm still iffy. this shade, while it looks ok on me is probably not super flattering on most people. the wand picks up too much product and its almost globbed on and it gets uneven if you purse your lips. it also isn't all that pigmented, so it's pretty sheer looking. annnnd i'm also not a fan of the rose scent in this....

w00t! graduation is approaching!

hey guys! it's that time!! i got to schedule for my final semester..again! hahaha. thankfully it wasn't quite as much of a rush this time. i'm only taking two classes..again, one that is mandatory for the entire business school (management), and ... communication studies. haha.

the management class is a capstone class..thus the mandatory-ness...and it's group projects and stuff. lame. and the cmst class i picked is working in groups also. yushhhhh. i have successfully avoided public speaking yet again! i've only almost needed to take public speaking..pretty much every semester following my very first.

so tentatively, my spring schedule is:
mgt 3830 tth 1030-12 bec
cmst 2061 tth 130-3 coates
..and work will probably be mostly mwf's. they'll probably let me do 25 hours again--something only allowed during your final semester.. and i'm going to see if ibm will let me start at the end of may/beginning of june. so we'll see! i'm super excited about it though; 3 years and another degree later: i've finally found myself a full-time job!

october 2014 ipsy bag

hi guys, we finally gots the october IPSY BAG*! (theme: beauty candy)

it's only been in LA for 3 days now... for some reason dhl decided to ship it to this town called rayne?????? and there was an, oh, this is a totally different zip code than us! then my postman was too lazy to put it into my mailbox yesterday when he found out the apartment office was closed.. then, today, it was in my mailbox. wtf usps man, wtf. ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:

1. ecru new york acacia protein bb cream for hair (1oz--mini, ret. $12 for 4.2oz [$3.10]) -- this has a fairly non-descript scent to it. it's white with a lotion-like consistency. i'll have to get back to you guys on this one. this gets off pretty much everything but eye makeup. but they're not bad.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
2. figs & rouge hand cream in rose berry (.67oz--full size, ret. $6.56) -- you guys know that i hate on rose scented things..but the berry is more prominent and i think that's why i like it. it's kinda weird, almost a l'occitane hand cream in consistency but as you rub it in, it feels like water...whaaaat.
• likelihood to repurchase: maybe
3. jesse's girl mineralized baked shadow powder in kiwi shine (.07oz--full size, ret. $3.99) -- i'm not a huge mineral eyeshadow fan, mostly because payoff always varies and i'm not one for wetting my brush and dabbing it in there. this is a pretty color though, but i'm not sure that i'll use it. so i might give it away.
• likelihood to repurchase: probably not
4. skyn iceland mini glacial cleansing cloths (10 cloths--mini, ret. $15 for 30 cloths [$5]) -- these have a clean, soapy type scent to them. annnnd they're super saturated. i was thinking this would be more like a makeup wipe, but it's so foamy it's almost as if you should use this to wash your face with water...like a pre-moistened version of olay's daily facial cloths. the cloths themselves are pretty soft though.
• likelihood to repurchase: no
5. starlooks lipgloss in guilty pleasure (.03oz--mini, ret. $12 for 0.14oz [$2.57]) -- this is a pretty shade, but i don't like sticky glosses. this isn't super ridiculously sticky, but enough that my hair will stick to my lips....... and as shown in the swatch, it gets patchy if you purse your lips.
• likelihood to repurchase: meh
6. teal ipsy bag -- this is such a fun color! but if you haven't noticed, i like blue stuff.

laptop...

hi guys! i was originally going to save this for my next empties post, but i recently posted one and the next one won't be until the end of december or early january. so yeah. ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

so on sunday, my laptop went kaput. it was a few weeks shy of 5 years old and it happened so fast. i was just playing on it, watching a t-drama and all of the sudden, there's a flash almost like a spark on the lower left side of my screen, near where my power supply plugs in. turns out the circuit breaker in my power brick got tripped and temporarily shut off. then while i'm fiddling around trying to figure out what the hell even happened, my laptop just shuts off. so it appears that the jack for my power supply (the female side in the computer) shorted out and somehow killed my battery in the process. >.> 

i was without laptop for less than 24 hours, but with a lot of research we were lucky to find one within reason at bestbuy. it's a 15.6in with an intel core i3 processor, 4gb ram, 500gb hard drive, touch screen, and windows 8.1---which by the way has been an absolute nightmare to learn how to use. this is sooo different from windows 7 annnnd they got rid of a bunch of programs that i used regularly so it's been hard trying to figure out new alternatives.. there is NO paint, NO ms office picture manager...i've been resorting to this new photo slideshow program thingy and paint.net exclusively. the calculator of all things is not a tiny window anymore..it freaking takes up the ENTIRE screen. who the hell needs a giant-ass calculator?! i mean, yeah touch screen, whatever, but there should be an option for me to make it small again. but there isn't...wtf. ....... [end windows 8.1 rant. for now.]
[update: i lied, apparently you can split-screen the calculator and resize it left or right, but that's about as small as you can get it. also, it doesn't keep the "small" setting if you close it and reopen it. wtf.]
[update, update: there is paint on here..i just couldn't find it at first..........]

also, i decided that i'm not installing all the software that i need for my classes onto this laptop because this is the last semester that i actually need them. and i don't want to deal with renewing all my licenses for each of them. school only lets us have one license and if you're in my situation and need to install it elsewhere, you have to like contact microsoft and have them reset the key or something and it's too much of a hassle. besides, the lab in the business school has all the software and it's pretty much always available in the evenings if i ever need to use it. the programs are ms office products: visual studio, visio, and project.

it's also a really weird change from the 14in to 15.6in. i'm not used to the key placement and there's a number pad now; so it's super throwing me off. the function keys that i use ALL THE TIME, like delete, printscreen, pageup, pagedown, home and end are all in totally new places... >.< we also bought an enclosure to make my old laptop's hard drive into an external. i will say that if you were to buy this enclosure, it's aluminum and it gets pretty hot if you're using it for a while.

ps.

• i'm planning on eventually upgrading this guy to 8gb of ram because 4gb with this os is not workin for me. also it's weird, there's only one card slot for ram in this laptop...my other one had 2 slots.
• sadface. i don't have a prettyful laptop cover anymore. and it was like an extra $80! (..when dell's website still let you custom build computers) TT_TT's and 晚上's!!!!!!!!!! also, TT_TT's and 晚上's that i ran out of domo stickers. the person i got them from on ebay no longer exists and all other domo decals on there are not this cut. annnd this new laptop is textured, so i don't think it'd last as well on this one anyway...

hi guys! in a recent haul post, i mentioned that i'd post a notd/swatches of this polish set. the blue is deep end, gold glitter is goldmine, and the pink is woodstock. i used 2 coats of woodstock and deep end, one coat goldmine, and formula x for sephora the system. ~Lin-chan ^.~

today's fotd ft. ud pulp fiction palette

hi guys! so today i tried out two things i mentioned in yesterday's haul post: the urban decay pulp fiction palette and benefit's push-up liner. for the most part, i tried following the card that came with the palette..but alas. i also had great difficulty with the push-up liner sample. the packaging for this sample is NOT representative of the real deal; the whole thing is a bendy-siliconey tube (& the bottom is dead space; see photo below) that you have to squeeze to dispense the product; making the whole thing wayyy too flexible. i'm sure the real deal is actually much better since only the tip is flexible. ~Lin-chan ^.~
