august hauls

hey guys! so here's what i got this month. idk what's gotten into me recently, but i have suddenly purchased acquired a ton of blushes. ^^; ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

  • hautelook*: be a bombshell blushes in sweet cheeks (not pictured, seen here) & love me
    • unfortunately, the love me blush arrived shattered, so i pressed it back into the pan and i received a refund for it
  • sephora: mufe mist & fix
  • cvs: loreal infallible super slim liquid liner

cvs mua crease brush vs. UK mua e3 blending & shadow brush; bella bronze (swatched dry)

top: s1, s3, s4, s6, bottom: m1, m3, m4, m6 (swatched dry)
  • ulta 20% off: smashbox mini full exposure palette, urban decay polish in mrs. mia wallace (see notd here), maybelline great lash doll mania mascara in blackest black, eos lip balm in vanilla mint
    • i got the mini palette because $22 (minus 20%) is a pretty good deal, and i can live without those 4 shadows, mascara mini, and brush that were included with the full-size ($49)
    • i super omg'd when i saw swatches of this nail polish. i am not a red person at all, and i had to have it.
  • cvs: mua crease brush, milani bella eyeshadow in bella bronze

poetic, delicate, elegant, glamorous
coastal scents: forever blushes in poetic, delicate, elegant, & glamorous -- they were on sale for $4/ea and i got $3 off for making an account!
  • the only quibble i have about the blushes is that they're powdery, but they're full color and last quite a while.
  • they also sent me some stickers and a mini eyeshadow quad with ice ballet, peachy keen, bombay, raisin berry. i didn't swatch the quad because i think i'm going to give it away.

fall semester class impressions

hi guys! sorry this post didn't make it for wednesday, my finance teacher emailed us sunday saying he'd be out of town til today..so w00t 2 classes canceled! lol. so anyway, here's my impressions of my classes... ~Lin-chan ^.~

mwf
  • fin 3718: multinational managerial finance (bec)
    • taking this class for one of my business electives. all the other isds courses i haven't taken are related to data analytics and that's no bueno!
    • i took his class last fall and got an a. so i'm hoping the same'll happen this time. he actually didn't really spend time talking about himself because he said that pretty much all of us have taken him before, so he just started teaching..boo. at the very least, it was all recap from last time, so not too bad. and he let us out early because he has jet lag, from coming back from south africa.
  • work
  • mkt 3401: principles of marketing (bec)
    • unfortunately, the instructor i started to take last semester (before i dropped it) has the class at an inconvenient time this semester..aka, i ain't walkin from [from home to coates to home for a break and then to] bec to cox in 10 minutes, then back to bec again [on tth's]. hells no! but i need this class as a pre-req for management next semester.
    • the instructor i chose, of the remaining 2 available, sounded more appealing (the other lady's a foreigner with a bad accent or something) and he's a younger person, maybe mid-late 30s. so, to some degree, he's more interesting and at our level, but he's maybe not as experienced as an instructor, but in general, i think this class will work out, it just won't be as easy as the other guy made his class sound.
  • work

tth:
  • cmst 2064: small group communication (coates)
    • this class is probably going to be less fun than my isds-presentation class from last fall, mostly because we only made 3 presentations and she lectured the rest of the time...and this class is a communication studies..like where you have to be more interactive and stuff. i did enjoy the first day though.
      • our get to know you exercise was interesting. she handed out rolls of toilet paper and told us to tear off how much we normally use. after everyone had some, she told us to get up in front of the class and say one interesting fact about ourselves per square. so that was kinda neat, and different.
  • break
  • isds 4125: analysis & design of management info systems (bec)
    • i actually had this instructor already, for my first programming class. while i like her as a person, she's not that great of a teacher...
    • i am excited that we won't need to go to class all the time since this is a capstone/group project. and it sounds like it might be interesting; we're writing a deliverable program and all of its documentation by the end if the semester.
  • break
  • isds 4160: sourcing in china (bec)
    • this guy talks exactly like my great-grandfather: funny broken engrish and a thick accent--even though he's been teaching here for "30, thuree-zerrohh years" now. he emphasizes things by raising his voice--almost to the point of shouting. and he has the typical chinese communication-proximity-respect thing where he gets in your personal space, literally almost in your face, when he's talking. note to self: never sit in the front row of this class.
    • needless to say, i left the first day with a migraine. i'm not sure if it was dehydration from all the walking back and forth from home and all the way out to coates, or just that he kept babbling about random stuff.
    • ps, have you ever heard of the who dat pig??? apparently his former student helped with producing them (selecting a chinese manufacturer, etc.) and he brought both sizes to class. they were major lolz. see this video.

another school year begins!

hey guys! the semester has finally come around again! and this time, the summer felt like forever.

after we got back from our vacation, work felt like it was dragging. a lot of it was a mix of me still being in vacation mode and not wanting to leave it, and a project that was fairly extensive but is about 80% done now, which is good. i obviously had other projects this summer too but that one has been particularly draining. thankfully i can get a little bit of a break from it because the stadium's still under construction and it's hard to get in there to do our work. but whatevs. i'm excited that school's back in session to break up some of the monotony.

anywho. i wanted to put up my schedule here for ya for those interested. i'm in the home stretch, i've got 21hrs left!!! (ps. 15hrs + 6hrs is ~$700 cheaper than taking 12hrs + 9hrs.) the only real concern i've got about this semester--which shouldn't be a huge problem--is that if my instructors follow the final exam schedule, i will have 4 finals within 26 hours. which blows, but talking to the dean can fix that. so hopefully no biggie. i'll post on wednesday (hopefully) with my impressions of each class.

another concern i've got is that i have to work on friday afternoons this time, which will be tough because we probably won't be able to escape the masses coming in for home games. TT_TT

first impression: urban decay naked2 basics

hey guys! i just wanted to get on here and say holy freaking crap. i ordered this gem yesterday morning around 7 CST and it was sitting on my doorstep by 3pm TODAY. anyway, here are my initial thoughts, i'll be testing this palette over weekend. and at some later time, i'll have a comparison to the original naked basics palette. ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

  • skimp -- it's a really nice peachy off-white type color. it's probably a demi-matte..like venus is/was because it has some shimmer to it. it's very buttery and i got way too much when i first rubbed my finger across it
  • stark -- i'm happy that this will show up on my skin (relative to the shades in the first naked basics)
  • frisk -- a pure taupe! >w<
  • cover -- i love how this is a burnt browny-tan shade; great for the crease or transitioning
  • primal -- this is a nice chocolate/medium brown shade
  • undone -- i really like how they didn't include another black. i'm not huge into using dark shadows as my liner, but this is a nice in-between for me.

august 2014 ipsy bag

hi guys, lookie what came in yesterday! my august IPSY BAG*! (theme: beauty schooled) ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:
  1. urban decay perversion mascara (.1oz--mini, ret. $22 for .4oz [$5.50]) -- i already like this mascara and have already repurchased it. see my review here
    • likelihood to repurchase: yes
  2. nicka k absolute lip balm in grape (12g--full size, ret. $5.99 for set of 2 [$3])
    • initial thoughts: yay another lip balm.... >.< hoard all the lip balms! i'm not complaining about ipsy sending me a few. more like in general, i buy lip balms all the time and never get around to using them. and if i ever finish one, it's because it's some crazy miracle amazing product. *cough..lypsyl*
    • first impression: it's very thin and doesn't last very long. has a grape jolly rancher type scent to it. there's also blue glitter in there, but it's not much and it doesn't seem to translate onto the lips. otherwise, it's a thin glossy looking balm.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
  3. dr. brandt pores no more primer (.25oz--mini, ret. $45 for 1oz [$11.25]) -- this is a silicone-y primer. i think i've tried this a long time ago. it's similar to my beloved too faced primed & poreless, but something about it's scent is slightly off-putting. it's not a bad or strong scent, i just don't care for it.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no. this is crazy expensive.
  4. coastal scents forever blush duo in fresh & elegant (2.5g total--minis, ret. $7.95 for 10g each [$1.99]) -- these are soooo teeny tiny! but boy do they pack a punch. i only swatched them once, like one layer. crazyyyy pigmentation. fresh is a peachy-bronzer type shade, and elegant is a medium pink with some sparkle.
    • likelihood to repurchase: maybe elegant
  5. lord & berry silk kajal kohl eye pencil in black (.02oz--mini, ret. $16 for .1oz [~$3.20])
    • first impression: this liner is ok. it goes on nice and black, but it can smudge pretty easily. i think i'll primarily use this on my waterline.
    • likelihood to repurchase: probably not
  6. white ipsy bag with orange polka dots -- the pattern is cute, but i don't particularly like this vinyl material..

more july hauls

hi guys! i decided to buy more stuff. and stuff that i didn't think i'd buy..but i did it anyway.......... ~Lin-chan ^.~

i'm getting sunburned trio, natural rose, bella champagne, bella copper, bella taupe; combustealble
  • urban decay.com: perversion mascara (see my review!) with mini subversion lash primer
  • elf 50% off birthday sale: mascara primer (white) & flat eyeliner brush; among other things (xmas gifts). i'm actually going to use the liner brush for nail polish cleanup.
  • cvs: i had extrabucks and a 20% off coupon, so among other items, i got: wet n wild shadow trio in i'm getting sunburned, milani eye tech liner & gel shadows in bella champagne, bella copper, and bella taupe
  • rite-aid: sally hansen miracle gel polishes in topcoat & combustealble
  • target: pixi lip balm in natural rose
  • sephora.com: bite beauty agave lip mask in champagne (swatched below) -- i freaking love this already. it gives a sheer rose-gold tone to the lips. >w< the texture is kinda like an ointment, and from the tube the shade looks similar to nars orgasm gloss (swatched below).

orgasm, champagne, mystical, naked, kissibility, bold blush, pink satin, rose elixir
  • ebay: mac alluring aquatics lipstick in mystical -- i really should have bought this when the collection came out..when we were at florida mall, i had like 50 bazillion opportunities to buy it. TT_TT
  • sephora: sephora favorites give me some lip kit 2014 -- i didn't swatch all of these because i'm not sure which ones i want to save as xmas gifts and which ones i want to keep yet... (keeping ud naked & marc jacobs kissibility for sure)
    • [ps, is it sad that i already have like 4 peoples' xmas gifts done already..? ^^; hahaha.]
  • target/walgreens/dollar tree: loreal pop balm in bold blush, nude balms in pink satin & rose elixir, lil baby chap ice revo lip balm in cherry, loreal nail lingeries in elite chic & razzle be dazzle [not pictured]

walgreens watermelon vs. itty bitty cherry

etsy (crystalpowder--paw palettes): bow baby paw ring & bang bang paw pal, she also included one of her marilyn monroe stickers
  • kandee johnson talked about paw palettes a long time ago and their etsy store just recently reopened. so i got a ring to keep with my everyday makeup stuff and the baby gun is for my travel makeup bag.

super orgasm vs. orgasm blushes
narscosmetics.com: ita brush & mini blush in super orgasm (free with code)
  • first impression: i'm mildly upset that this brush doesn't seem like super amazing quality. like the shape is a little unusual and unique, but in essence the handle is like a pair of childrens' chop sticks holding a thin, longer bristled benefit boxed blush brush.
  • super orgasm is more pink with larger glitter particles, where orgasm is more of a coral shimmer

freesia, tulip, tiger lily, peony, sweet pea

ulta:
  • 2x japonesque solid brush cleansers (bogo free!)
  • ulta liquid eyeliner in onyx (black, brush tip, $2!)
  • ulta mineral blushes ($3 ea!) -- buy all the blushes!
    • the blushes are very small relative to most other brands, so if you're interested in these make sure to pick them up when they're on sale. $12 each is wayyyyy too much for these.
