review: em waterliner in ro's gold & the great cover up

hi guys! today i [finally] bring you my review of em michelle phan's waterliner in ro's gold and the great cover up in light neutral/cool. this post's been sitting in the queue for several months now, and i'm finally getting around to finishing it. >.< anyway, here ya go! ~Lin-chan ^.~

waterliner: i only used this on the waterline because of the nature of the color.
pros
  • it fares pretty well in the waterline, lasts several hours, but not all day.
  • it's a pretteh color. >w<
  • comes with a sharpener (pull off by the black spongy part)

cons
  • now, i'm not sure if this one's a dud or not, but when i first opened this pencil, the entire product came out. it wasn't [and still won't..] properly seated into its place. luckily i caught it before it fell to the floor and was able to get it to go back in, but i've been more careful with it because i'm never sure if it's seated in there correctly or not......
  • i'm not sure if it's just my skintone, but you can't really tell that it's a special color (like rose gold) on my waterline. actually, it almost looks like my waterline coloring as it is...
the verdictpass on the rose gold shade and get rimmel scandalEyes liner in nude--for the price. other shades of her waterliner might be better, but i only have this one.

concealer:
pros
  • this shade, while orangy in my swatch, isn't too bad on my face. it covers up blemishes very well and it blends out nicely when applied over foundation (i typically use foundation brushes for both foundation and blending concealer).
  • when used alone topped with powder, it's pretty good but i think it sheers out a little more this way and doesn't cover quite as well or thickly.. if that even makes sense.. i think this concealer blends and covers a little better when using foundation and a brush than just using it bare-faced (or primed) and setting it with powder.

cons
  • not sure if this is necessarily a con or not, but the applicator is like a slanted lip gloss applicator. it's kinda nice, but i (along with many others) am not going to apply it directly from the tube to my face. nope. i've been dispensing it onto my finger and dabbing it where needed.
  • the product is a little thick, and after a few uses i had to put a tube squeezer on there to help keep the pressure better when i dispensed it.
the verdictthe concealer is pretty good, but i don't feel like it's necessarily something to rush out and buy. there are other concealers out there that are fairly equivalent in every aspect that are more easily obtainable.
