may hauls

hi guys! i didn't go too crazy this month because we're going on vacation~! woohoo! anyway hope you had a great may and yesssssssss! summertime! ~Lin-chan ^.~

brushegg (purchased here) -- similar in concept to sigma's brush glove, this is more compact and ergonomic. it was $10 with shipping, so not too bad! i was hoping she'd send me a mint one (color is chosen at random) but at the very least, i'm glad i waited long enough that she doesn't have any more of the custard-yellow ones..ew! i've been really enjoying using this little guy, so at this rate, i don't think i'll make a separate post for the sigma brush glove anymore...i'm sure there's enough reviews for it out there. the brushegg is a good size and it's very functional without the need for the gazillion textures of the sigma ove' glove.

posiebalm, orgasm, concealer, copper lustre, black cherry liner
  • kohls.com: lorac 3D lustre liner in copper black cherry -- there was this shirt i wanted but our store didn't have the right size/color combo, and i needed to add a little bit more to get free shipping ^.~
    • the camera did not do that black cherry liner justice. it's a black with a red tone and red microshimmer. it's gorgeous.
  • cvs: almay clear complexion concealer in light -- i am all about acne-fighting products. buy all the salicylic acid makeup! (and yay for having extra bucks!)
  • benefitcosmetics.com: posiebalm -- poisetint in balm form! sah-weet.
  • sephora.com (2 orders): tarte maracuja c-brighter eye cream, 100 points: nars orgasm gloss, codes: smashbox eye primer, pantone universe radiant orchid bag

bbb/target: loreal miss manga mascara, jergens bb body, soft lips cube in vanilla bean, elf contour brush, neutrogena makeup remover wipes--because i forgot if i liked these or not....
  • uh of course i would buy manga mascara, the otaku within needed it, even though the european reviews are so-so. 我要眼象睛漫画!买所有的东西!
    • i do think that it does give a manga/anime-eyes effect. like the lashes clump together kinda piece-y similar to characters' eyes in peach girl and i.n.v.u. ...kinda..kinda..? kandee johnson has a video demo/review of this mascara for those interested.

swatches: cruisin chic & back to basics smudgepots; naked & sunset prism shadow palettes (swatched dry)
eyeslipsface.com: they were having a mother's day "sale", so for $25+shipping, i got $40 worth of stuff. yep. essential smudge brush, studio blush brush, 2x small tapered brushes, prism eyeshadow palettes in naked & sunset, essential smudgepots in cruisin chic & back to basics, makeup remover wipes, 12pk of spoolies
  • i haven't gotten around to using the smudgepots yet, but they have a really smooth and creamy consistency; much more so than what maybelline color tattoos or the benefit creaseless cream shadows have. i was quite impressed.

  • makeupgeek.com (2 orders): large pink z palette..because i needed another one? MUG eyeshadow starter kit/dotted leaf z palette bundle (for swatches, see photo on the product page)
    • shadow pans, as placed in my palette (L-R, T-B): shimma shimma, prom night, unexpected, cocoa bear, crème brulee, glamorous, mocha, drama queen, corrupt
  • cvs: maybelline master drama chromatic liner in plum persuasion, automatic liner in midnight master, [not pictured] covergirl nail polish in being blonde (see notd post)

musk, lychee, montana (swatched dry)
  • sephora: bite beauty luminous crème lipstick duo in neutral (musk & lychee) -- it's so itty bitty! i luff it!
  • target: sheamoisture eyeshadow pan in montana

may 2014 ipsy bag

hi guys, so may's IPSY BAG* (theme: beauty's fresh picks) has arrived! and i'm not super impressed nor am i totally happy about this bag. i'm excited to try some of the items, while others..i'm certain should not have been in there based on my quiz. and that defeats the purpose of the quiz. ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:
  1. eva nyc therapy session hair mask (2.03oz--mini, ret. $14.99 for 16.9 oz [$1.80]) -- i'll have to let you guys know later about this one. the only turnoff thus far is that the scent is kinda strong. but it does seem like a nice and thick deep conditioning cream
    • likelihood to repurchase: maybe
  2. pacifica mineral eyeshadow duo #2 in moonbeam & unicorn (.07oz, ret. $14 per palette [$3.50]) -- these shadows could have been good but they're not. they're pretty chalky upon first swatching. and they're not all that pigmented either. i'll play around a little more with these, but idk about this...
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
    • product was given away
  3. calvin klein endless euporea (.1oz--mini, ret. $69 for 2.5oz [$2.76]) -- so, on my quiz, fragrance is deselected. wtf. the main issue with this is that i don't want perfumes and the like because of my migraines. i'd prefer to pick them out myself. the scent's not bad, but it smells more mature and older than what i go for..and by older, i mean not quite but approaching grandma.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
  4. avène thermal spring water (1.76oz--mini, ret. $18 for 10.58oz [$3]) -- what is this stuff?? i'm so confused. is it like those cans of evian water/spray thingies? it has no scent..because it's spring water..i guess? so weird.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
  5. jersey shore sun sans tan anti-aging sunscreen (.5oz-- mini, ret. $40 for 2oz [$10]) -- this is so freaking expensive to repurchase, like really??? it doesn't really have a scent to it which is nice; no usual sunscreen scent. it does seem to have a slight brightening effect.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
  6. white ipsy bag with green leaf design -- the pattern is only on one side and the bag itself has an ecofriendly type feel to it...if that makes any sense whatsoever.
  7. card with company info/discount codes
    1. eva-nyc.com: 65% off your purchase, code: ipsy (exp. 6/15/14)

(update &) finals are over!!!

...and grades have been posted! and i got the grades i needed!!! wooohoo! still pretty upset that i haven't hit the 3.0 overall mark yet..we'll get there next semester..i hope! haha, i've only been here 7 years! lol! oh yeah, 3075 is a pass/fail class..so that's what the P stands for, if you didn't know..

as for the update, posts will be infrequent and probably not on time (or pre-scheduled) for the next several weeks. i'll be busy at work--there's a lot of major projects coming up, and we're going on vacation for two and a half weeks with limited internets access.

hope y'all are doin well and havin a great summer. and i'll post when i can! i'll attempt to post vacation pictures to my fb (sorry non-friends!) on the daily--if possible, and after we get back, i'll make a post on here with some of the highlights. ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

notd: covergirl being blonde & china glaze fireside glow

hi guys! guess who picked up a new polish?! as part of the new katy perry covergirl line, they came out with some polishes. this one was the one i was most interested in, mostly because of this whole rose gold trend that we're in right now. 2 coats being blonde; thumbs & rings: 1 coat being blonde, 2 coats fireside glow. also used: formula x for sephora the system. ~Lin-chan ^.~

please excuse the air bubbles in the topcoat. >.<

[finally!] april 2014 ipsy bag

i finally haz teh precious.

hi guys, so april's IPSY BAG* (theme: beauty rocks) post is just a teeny bit late. but it's not my fault. somehow, my original bag got lost in the mail... around the 16th or so, i got my tracking code but all the way through to the end of april, my tracking code never activated and i never got the package. so i had to email them to request a new one, and i was surprised that my email was answered within about two hours or so. awesome! only problem though was that they decided to ship it to my billing address (my mom's, aka an hour's drive away) and not to my shipping address (our apartment)... ಠ_ಠ they're different for a reason, people. ~Lin-chan ^.~

here's my impressions:
  1. urban decay 24/7 glide-on pencil in black velvet (.03oz--travel size, ret. $20 for .04 oz [$15]) -- i'm so excited about this pencil, you can't believe. i'm a huge black pencil liner fan and this is no exception. i wanted it when they were first released, but i was good and held off! ^___^
    • likelihood to repurchase: maybe, but not anytime soon--i've got too many liners in the rotation
  2. dr. brandt mircrodermabrasion skin exfoliant (.26oz--mini, ret. $78 for 2oz [$10.14]) -- i recently redeemed 100 sephora points for one of these >.< this stuff feels very nice and has an orangey scent. i've mentioned several times on here that i typically prefer more abrasive scrubs, and this is definitely it. the feeling is similar to laura mercier flawless skin face polish or kate somerville exfolikate.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no, it's sooooo expensive!
  3. elizabeth mott pop goes the shadow in champagne (.07oz--full size, ret. $12.99) -- this is really pretty. i was surprised. again, about elizabeth mott stuff: it's not worth me ordering from them when i can easily obtain similar products locally.
    • likelihood to repurchase: probably not
  4. sexy hair root pump volumizing spray (1.6oz--mini, ret. $17.95 for 10.6oz [$2.71]) -- i'll have to leave an impression later. i honestly don't really care about having voluminous hair, so this is a meh product for me, but we'll see. the scent is a weird mix of citrus and hairspray.
    • likelihood to repurchase: probably not
    • update: product has been given away
  5. mary kay jelly lip gloss in teddy bare (.32oz-- full size, ret. $10) -- this gloss is ok. it's kinda on the thicker, slightly tackier side of the spectrum. it's fairly pigmented so i think it looks weird on me, but if i sheer it out, it's not too bad.
    • likelihood to repurchase: no
    • product has been given away
  6. blue ipsy bag with record player design -- it's cute and very fitting with this month's theme
  7. card with company info/discount codes
    1. urbandecay.com: free mini b6 spray with $35 purchase, code: udipsy (exp. 4/18/14 or until supplies last)
    2. drbrandtskincare.com: 20% off full size microdermabrasion + free mini pores no more pore refiner for the first 10k purchases, code: micro20 (exp. 9/31/14)
    3. elizabethmott.com: 50% off any purchase, free ship after $30, code: ipsypop (exp. 6/1/14)
    4. benefitcosmetics.com: free mini high beam with $30 purchase, code: aprilglam (exp. 5/15/14)
    5. cailyncosmetics.com: 20% off & free gift, code: ipsygift (exp. 5/31/14)
    6. demeterfragrance.com: 20% off purchase, code: 20ipsydfl (exp. 5/31/14)
    7. sttropeztan.com/ipsy: 25% off purchase, code: glow25 (exp. 7/5/14)
    8. starlooks.com: 20% off purchase, code: ipsy20 (exp. 5/31/14)
    9. suchateasebeauty.com: 20% off purchase ($2.50 shipping on orders <$25, free shipping after $25), code: ipsy20 (exp. 5/25/14)

popsugar must have snacks by naturebox!

hi guys! so as you may have seen, i bought april's popsugar must have box, included in it was a really yum mix by naturebox* that had almonds, corn, edamame, pepitas, cranberries, and rice crackers. included in the box was a card to get 50% off a special popsugar-curated naturebox, aka 5 snacks for $10 with free shipping. uh yes please. the must have mix was yum and i wanted more. i think i'm going to have to cancel the subscription though because $20/month for snacks is kinda a lot, and like i said on my april must have post, anything other than the $10 ipsy bag is kinda too expensive right now.

anyway, to get this deal (while supplies last), go to naturebox.com/popsugar by 5/30/14. you're welcome. ^_^ ~Lin-chan ^.~

popsugar must have mix (4.5oz): almonds, corn, edamame, pepitas, cranberries, rice crackers (photos recycled from april popsugar must have box post)
  • since i finished this snack within like 20 minutes last time, i've found something that has sort of satisfied my craving for this: trader joe's oh my! omega trek mix. it's more of a nuts and cranberries blend but it satisfies the craving.

seaweed rice pops (5oz)
  • these taste like ordinary soy sauce-flavored rice crackers that you get in those mixes

dried california peaches (3.5 oz)
  • these are kinda meh. i mean, they're peaches and they taste like dried ones.... the only dried fruits that i really like are mangoes and bananas (banana chips)..and cranberries, but they're berries..

lemon pucker pistachios (4oz)
  • these almost make you pucker! i like the light acidity the lemon juice adds to the pistachios

blueberry almond bites (4oz)
  • these are really freaking good. they're like clustered granola almost, but probably better for you

card with berry green smoothie recipe:
  • 3 oz vanilla nonfat greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1/2 c frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 c frozen pineapple
  • 1 c kale
  • 3/4 c water
