new..er car! (updated)

so apparently i only like driving cars that, prior to trying them, i say i hate the body style and say "no, we're not looking for those". yeah, the PT was the only specific model car i said i didn't want. this time, the Soul was further down the "no" chain. yes, we now have the hamster-mobile. anyway... we'll see in the distant future what happens with car #3! i'm glad i'm getting rid of the PT though, it's been a long 4 years with it's massive issues (it-physically and me-mentally). but at least i have peace of mind now and hopefully my paranoia about locking things will go away soon. [only a select few that have access to my protected xanga posts will know what i'm talking about in detail (posted 12/6/12).] anyway, here's my new car!

~Lin-chan ^.~

edit: there are a few things that kinda suck about the new car.
  1. first and foremost: i JUST overpaid (different parishes charge different amounts) for a new brake tag for the PT..and now i have to get a city-specific one (due to registration address) for the new car before the end of february. >.>
  2. second, '12 and beyond (kia and some other manufacturers) are now giving you goo instead of a spare tire kit. GOO. aka fix-a-flat, but somehow "better". what am i supposed to do if i get a blow out?! goo will definitely hold all the shredded bits together! well...anyway, a nice kia dealer on ebay is sending us one for ≥$100 less than the dealer here wanted.
  3. third, this is the base model so it's not super spiffy like the plus or exclaim that have armrests, a divider compartment thingy in the trunk, or a cargo security cover (so you can't see in the trunk), so those are on the birthday list.

online haulage (updated)

this is another one of those, "i hauled so much that i don't want to take many photos and none of this has come in yet".. so here ya go. take it as it is. i'm hoping to not haul too much more as my birthday is approaching and because of something else that i will link here/mention later. ~Lin-chan ^.~

online hauls!

hi everyone! here's the first haul post of the year! i had some gift cards to sephora and a visa gift card to use so i went ahead and got a few things from sephora. if it wasn't for the visa gift card, i wouldn't have gotten the mufe sponge; totaly random right, not totally. first off: i had $40 visa to use + sephora gift cards; so i managed to get myself to $39.92 after the sephora cards and tax, after adding the sponge for $8.50. and voila! not to mention, a lot of people that reviewed it on the sephora site seemed to like it. so it wasn't a bad buy. i still have yet to try it out, i'll try to bring it up again sometime in the future.

then drugstore.com reminded me that i had reward dollars to use..so yeah. ^^;

another note about ebates*: i recently went and found the ebates browser add-on because, i keep forgetting to use it. if you're good about using ebates: great, or if you're like me and forgetful even though the bookmark is right next to the sephora bookmark................................................. you should install the browser add-on. i primarily use chrome, but there are add-ons for firefox and explorer. basically, ebates will watch what sites you go to and if you go to a site that partners with ebates, there will be a large, in your face banner that pops down to say "HEY! START A TRACKING TICKET! BUY STUFF!" so, yes it's been annoying me as i browse websites...but hey, when i really do need it, it will be looking out for me. if you close out the banner, the E on the top right will keep flashing red. ~Lin-chan ^.~

first week of class! & notd! (updated)

hey guys! it's a new semester and here's my impressions of the classes i'm taking.

mwf -- class 3hrs, work 20hrs
  • work
  • Statistical Methods and Models (Dodson auditorium)
    • this instructor seems like the coolest person ever and idk how they even found her. she's from da bayou and has an accent..lisp? to match. she works half as an instructor, and half for business res-life---and even wants to apply to live on campus with her husband (a professor), and one of her sons comes here as well. that's dedication. but anyway, it doesn't sound like this'll be too bad. exams in the testing center.
  • mw: work/lunch break (on campus)

tth: all of the following are in the new business complex--thankfully! -- class 12hrs, work 0hrs.
  • Introductory Managerial Accounting
    • she doesn't seem as bad as people online made her out to be; it's just that she tells you how it is: blunt. grading seems fair: 75% correct on homework = 100%? heck yes! the only thing that i think kinda sucks is that the last accounting (intro to financial) was really interesting, but this is only a tiny subset of that class. basically <10% of what we learned last semester will be covered in this class. ~.~ exams in the testing center.
  • Management of Information Resources
    • so this class is basically "how to get a job" and all the things involved in the job search/interviewing process, plus a few other things: like learning how to use a few programs. has group work. booooo. she seems really nice, she's retiring this semester (so i can't take her later >.>) and it sounds like it will be a beneficial class overall.
    • involves: making a linkedin account, making an ePortfolio (weebly.com), and a wordpress--yay i have 4 blogs now! >.> ..so my close friends who are reading this, you can add me on linkedin now if you'd like.
  • lunch break: go home
  • Principles of Macroeconomics
    • he seems pretty cool. he's a young guy and definitely a lot more interesting and organized than the dude i had last semester. i mean really, how did he pass me? that's why i picked someone new. it's a fairly small class: 60 people but we'll see! i definitely learned late last semester that the online homework site--the practice problems really help toward getting the homework correct and when you encounter those types of questions on the exam. department final. booooo.
  • Information Technology Project Management
    • how to be a team leader for projects, group projects, etc. yay~ >.> instructor's really nice, grading sounds fair too, and there are a ton of grad students in this class. big transition from all baby-freshmen last semester.
overall, i'm mostly concerned about my tth classes as they sound like they will be a lot more work-intensive than my mwf class..not to mention all four of them two days a week. luckily, two of my classes have exams in the testing center and none of my finals double up either. so i think that this will be a fairly busy yet productive semester. ~Lin-chan ^.~

and notd! it's a repeat; but geaux tigers! 2 coats opi purple with a purpose, 2 coats sephora by opi it's real 18k gold topcoat.

edit:
well, after a good ole time of going through all my syllabi, my social calendar has dramatically dropped to nothing. i've got lots of homework to do this semester and lots of group work to work on, and work. i'll keep posting what's coming up for that week or whatever as i have in the past. all of my instructors are hating on π day.

plus this whole searching for a new car thing is cramping my style. my dad's offering to help pay for some of the purchase, but he's being too particular/picky about what I want. and is going as far as saying that he wants me in a larger car..and that cars of equivalent size to mine aren't good enough. and one with <20k miles and <3 years old. uh hello, college student: don't care. i want something stylish, within the budget, <40k miles, and good fuel economy. period. the cars that fit within his range are astronomically out of our budget and he doesn't get it. so beginning-of-new-semester stress & dad/car stress. it's not so cool.

fall favorites

this is a continuation of my favorites post from november where i made and shared my yaki udon recipe in this post. for more recipe ideas, click the recipes link up above! ~Lindsay-chan ^.~

these are what i've been constantly using this lately:
  • tarte smolderEYES amazonian clay liner pencils in onyx (skinny) and espresso. espresso was part of a gift set last year at sephora, so i'm not sure if they still sell this shade anywhere. onyx was in this year's pencil set, but it's sold pretty much anywhere that sells tarte. i really like the staying power of these pencils, they do raccoon after a few hours, but not to the point where others will notice it. onyx gives ud perversion a run for the money. it's amazing. see my comparison post here!
  • too faced sun bunny bronzer: this is a great bronzer, it is very easy to apply too much (for my light skin), but in moderation, it looks amazing!
  • nars orgasm blush & velvet gloss lip pencil in new lover--i got these during the vib sale at sephora as part of the 500 point perk. omg these are so awesome. this blush is a perfect, shimmery pinky-coral and this lip pencil is amazing; not only is this color flattering, but it's super long lasting (without lip primer) and feels very moisturizing.
  • nyx brow shaper (brow wax pencil): great pencil when applied with a light hand, if you use too much your brows will feel waxy/tacky and they may not want to move to places you want them to..so have a brow comb or spoolie on hand if necessary.
  • loreal one sweep eyeshadow in natural for brown eyes: ok, i've mentioned this somewhere else before..but it had to get included again! =P
  • revlon photoready concealer stick in light/medium: this is my new favorite full-coverage concealer. benefit's boi-ing is awesome for light coverage, but this takes the cake. it covers up redness like a charm. it's awesome!
  • sigma
    • e05 eyeliner brush (pink handle): awesome for gel eyeliners. this one came free when i ordered my p82 & p86. and i have a regular-sized one from the make me cool set.
    • p82 precision round brush (black handle): ahhhh!!! i love this brush so much. it's described as giving a finger-like application, awesome for concealer. i'm definitely going to get another when i get a chance!
  • real techniques
    • contour & buffing brushes (orange handles on left): it kinda sucks that they only package/sell these in the "core collection" set; which is the one with the orange handles.. but i really like these a lot! the buffer is dense, and a good size and shape for applying bronzer, and i use the contour brush for blush or highlighting.
    • base shadow & deluxe crease brushes (purple handles in middle): it kinda sucks that they only package/sell these in the "starter" set; which is the one with the purple handles.. but i really like these a lot! i've actually been using the base shadow brush as a fluffy blender brush. it's not really stiff enough to use for just applying shadow. it's up there with my e25: i love it! the deluxe crease brush, i have also not really been using for it's namesake; i've been using this as a second sigma p82 for concealer. it's fairly dense, but i'm sure it's great for eyeshadow as well.
    • expert face brush (orange handle on right): this is my new go-to foundation brush. it is sold separately from the other brushes/sets, and isn't terribly expensive (~$9). i like the application with this brush a lot more than the many flat foundation brushes i have. it makes it easy to stipple on foundation or blend it, no streaks!
  • macadamia natural oil deep repair [hair] masque: i usually only get hair masques/masks as a treatment; used once or twice a week because my hair is fairly normal but the flat iron definitely dries it out. when i'm not really using the flat iron, i'll use masks once a week or less. but when i am constantly using the heat, i'll do it twice or three times on just the ends. for me, i don't need this all over or it will be too much moisture on my roots and look greasy. and i basically use it instead of my regular conditioner for that day. i really love this stuff because, compared to other hair masks, this one feels and smells great afterward. my hair feels softer and better. before this, i'd normally get pantene masks.
  • velcro hair clips: i got these off ebay, the person i got them from sells them in pairs of three (all three in one color, or a set with one of each color). the only thing that sucked about ordering from him was that he's in china and usps/customs took forever (~13 business days total) to get the package to me. these are really awesome to pull your hair out of your face when applying makeup or washing your face. when applying makeup, i just use the velcros. but, i don't like using them alone when i wash my face..like they're good for pulling back all the baby hairs that headbands miss, but my hair is layered, so i still need a headband and ponytail (for the back) also.
  • paul mitchell hot off the press hair spray (thermal protector when using hair appliances): my hair stylist used this on me a looooong time ago and i never got around to buy it because i still had a lot of my other spray. i love it! the scent is night and not like a regular hair spray, but if you use too much it has that sticky feel (not clumpy) like regular hair spray. i spray a bit before using the flat iron and a little bit afterward and my hair stays straight the whole day.

  • bath and body works/white barn thanksgiving candle: this is a love it or hate it scent. to me, it smells like sweet potato casserole with a hint of caramel. for reals, it smells like your house on thanksgiving or christmas day..and food. yummy yummy food.
  • bath and body works/white barn leaves candle: i never ever picked this candle up before, thinking that it would smell super earthy (like dirt), grassy, etc. butttt after seeing/hearing everyone..and their mom..on youtube raving about this candle, i had to at least smell it, right? i love it too! unfortunately this is a fall-only scent and not year round..but a certain texas candle company makes a dupe of this, called leaves type, and that company's daughter makes a wonderful smelling matching soap. anyway. this is an awesome fall, apple, earthy, sweet scent. super love it! >w<
  • DIY cup holders/makeup brush holders: ever since i saw elle & blair's post about reusing bbw candle jars and using them as cup holders, etc. i've been "making" a bunch. rather than doing exactly what they say on the post, i've been burning them all the way down, putting them on my candle warmer (from cbv) and pouring the wax into a disposable bowl. also, take out the wicks at this point. then i let the bowl cool some..or stick it in the freezer like they said, and now i've got wax for the tart warmer for later! then i follow the remaining instructions with removing the labels and soaking it in hot soapy water. then if you want, you can let them be or you can dress them up by hot gluing a cute ribbon or pattern or something! you can also fill them with rice, beads, rocks, etc. to fill the bottom some. note: this process is a little different for colored candle jars from bbw; it's probably best if you use a clear jar from them. these are painted glass, not colored glass; so if you use something harsh (like steel wool--lol) to remove the labels, you'll remove the paint that's on the outside of the jar (see photo).

first post on blogger

hi everyone!! i decided to move everything over from my xanga to blogger. i feel that this way i can reach a larger audience, not just my close friends. my xanga was something i created in high school, back in 2004 when a good number of my friends were active on it. nowadays, there are a few stragglers that come back and check it out, rarely posting. others have moved on in their life or moved their blogs elsewhere.

this blog will be exactly the same format as my xanga, the way i normally post, layout, everything: with my beauty ventures as of late, in addition to random tidbits of my real life. there are only two changes: 1) there are no smileys! sadface! so i will be posting my as ^.~ from now on. and 2) this is not xanga. this is blogger. another product of the ever powerful, google. 3-ish) i may continue to post protected posts on xanga as it appears that everything on this blog is public, if you don't make the whole thing private.

i will keep my xanga account open, as i paid for lifetime premium many years ago and have tons of photo storage available on it. i have archived all of my posts up to today, even the angst-y high school ones that are forever hidden from view. lol. anyway, i will be posting all of my old blogs with their original titles and time stamps onto here shortly. the migration isn't as easy as i thought it would be--the archived posts are not in a blogger-friendly format and the "fixes" i've found are absolutely ridiculous. but those are equally as much of a pain as me going to each individual post editor and copying the html code into here. so let's go with the less complicated of the two evils.

based upon what i'm seeing, my more interesting public posts begin june 2011, so i will start with those. i think that i will keep my xanga as it is, public posts and all, up and unhidden. but aside from that, let the migration begin!

~Lindsay-chan ... ^.~

edit: a note about this blog layout: for some reason, my edits aren't properly showing up as i make the changes so if it's a little funky whenever the blogger techies fix it, i apologize.

edit: why in the hell do they have it so that you manually have to tell it whether you want comments or not. wtf. sorry to those who have wanted to comment..it's fixed.

happy new year! & notd!

hope you guys had a fun and safe time at a new year's eve party! ~Lin-chan ^.~

so here's a photo of us from the party...

what i used (plus lorac 3d liquid lustre in gold):

notd: zoya storm. my camera had issues with picking up the glitter and lighting properly. i'll try to repost a better photo later. in the bottle, it doesn't seem like this is a holo polish, but on the nail--it's awesome and i love it!
